Let’s Start With DETANGLING:

As a general rule, if you’re new to hair care especially natural hair start your washday by detangling your hair using a conditioner with lots of slip. To ensure that there is no difficulty getting shampoo and conditioner to every strands of your hair as well as having zero breakage you want get rid of every tangle and knots. When detangling you want to start from the ends and gently work up to the roots. This method allows for less breakage and hair pulling. Next up:

Water:

The Water temperature is very important, too hot water and you risk damaging your hair and scalp. Its best to stick with lukewarm water. The warm water opens the cuticle and aids in rinsing out dirt and buildup. You also want to thoroughly wet hour hair with water before you apply shampoo.

The Shampoo Process:

When washing focus the shampoo on your roots first and scrub gently using the pads of hour fingers and not your nail. Why? Well your nails can leave tiny bruises and injuries on your scalp that can make your scalp sore after washing.

Let’s not also forget that choosing the right shampoo is key component to achieving a healthy shiny hair. A rich, moisturizing shampoo can be too much for oily hair types and a clarifying shampoo can leave dry hair feeling stripped. Pick one that keeps your hair hydrated but effectively cleanses your roots. If you haven’t yet tried Scalp Therapy Shampoo, well we recommend it as it is uniquely formulated to deep clean your hair while gently exfoliating it bringing it back to life. The Scalp therapy Shampoo does its job to remove all product build up and preventing dandruff while still being extra gentle on your hair avoiding dryness and keeping it hydrated. The African bubbles shampoo also removes all build up and prevents scalp infection while being natural.

Massage the shampoo into your scalp but avoid using your nails and put your fingertips to work. You don’t want to scratch at your scalp, so it’s important to use your fingertips and not your fingernails. This will gently stimulate the scalp and spread the shampoo across your hair.

Treat yourself to at least 60 seconds of scalp massage to really see and feel the benefits. Plus scalp massaging promotes blood flow to the hair follicles, encouraging hair to grow faster and healthier.

Then Rinse:

If you don’t rinse properly, your hair will be flat and lifeless and feel somewhat coated. Rinse your hair with warm water until it is free of all shampoo. Take your time and don’t rush the process. As tempting as it is to rinse your hair quickly, sometimes that leads to leaving some product behind and causing it to weigh your hair down.

Condition:

When conditioning, you need to remember the purpose of it. Conditioner should be applied to your hair only and not your scalp. Leave your conditioner on your hair for at least 15 minutes to allow it to detangle, nourish and moisturize ends. Using a wide tooth comb will allow for the product to spread evenly while detangling your hair. But remember you must be gentle as hair is more prone to breaking while wet.
